QR Code Generator
Turn a link, a Wi-Fi detail, a vCard or any text into a QR code you can download as a PNG. Choose the size, the quiet zone and the error correction, and read the contrast warning before printing. The encoder runs in this tab, so the content of the code is never sent anywhere.
For print, generate large and let the printer scale down. A code enlarged after encoding gets soft edges and stops scanning reliably.
The clear border around the code. The specification asks for four; two is the practical minimum.
Higher correction means a denser code for the same content.
Leave this on unless something else is adding the border for you.
How qr code generator works
- Enter the contentA link, a Wi-Fi detail, a vCard, or any text at all.
- Set the shape and the correctionSize, quiet zone and how much damage the code should survive.
- Download the PNGRead the warnings first — they are the difference between a code that scans and one that does not.
What you get
Build a QR code as a PNG, drawn in the browser. Everything happens inside this page: the file is read by your browser, transformed in memory and handed straight back to you as a download. There is no upload queue, no waiting for a server, and nothing left behind when you close the tab.
Supported formats
This tool works on text you paste or type, so there is no file format to worry about. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Limitations, stated up front
- The PNG is fully opaque. A transparent background is not offered, because a QR code on a dark background inverts and stops scanning.
- Very long content needs a dense symbol that is hard to scan at a reasonable print size.
- No batch generation and no SVG output; the download is a PNG at the size you choose.
Frequently asked questions
What can a QR code hold?
Any text: a URL, a vCard, a Wi-Fi password in the standard format, a calendar event, a plain sentence. Capacity is roughly 2,900 characters at the lowest error correction and about 1,300 at the highest, because the correction data takes up room in the same symbol.
Will it scan from a phone?
Usually, at the sizes above. The factors that break scanning are a code smaller than about 2 cm, a low contrast between the two colours, a quiet zone that is too small, and a code printed on a busy background. Furtu warns about each of those, and about a light-on-dark code, which many scanners refuse even when the contrast is technically fine.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The code is drawn by a library in this page, and the PNG is produced in the same tab. Nothing about the content is transmitted, which matters when the content is a Wi-Fi password or an internal link.
Why is there no transparent background?
Because a QR code needs a light quiet zone to be read, and a transparent PNG on a dark page inverts it. The background colour is a control instead, so you can match a brand colour — and read the contrast warning before printing.
