Merge PDF

Join as many PDF files as you need into a single document and control the final page order by dragging the rows. Furtu rewrites the file structure in your browser, so the combined document is never uploaded anywhere.

How merge pdf works

  1. Add your PDFsDrop them in, or browse your device. Each file is checked for a real PDF header before it is accepted.
  2. Set the orderDrag rows to reorder. The order in the list is the order of pages in the finished document.
  3. Merge locallyThe pages are copied into a new document in your browser and handed back as a single download.

What you get

Combine several PDFs into one, in the order you choose. Everything happens inside this page: the file is read by your browser, transformed in memory and handed straight back to you as a download. There is no upload queue, no waiting for a server, and nothing left behind when you close the tab.

Supported formats

Furtu accepts .pdf files up to 500 MB each, and processes up to 50 files in one run.

  • Every file is checked against its real file signature, not just its name, so a renamed or corrupt file is rejected with an explanation instead of failing halfway through.
  • Files over the limit are refused up front rather than after a long wait.

Limitations, stated up front

  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened or merged without the password.
  • Digital signatures on the original files are invalidated, because the document structure changes.
  • Bookmarks and outline entries are not carried across; the merged file is organised by page order.

Why merge locally

Contracts, payslips and medical paperwork are exactly the files people should not hand to an unknown upload endpoint. Furtu does the work with a library that ships inside the page, so there is no upload step to trust.

Frequently asked questions

Are the merged files uploaded to a server?

No. Furtu reads and rewrites the pages in your browser using the PDF library compiled into the page. The bytes never leave your device, and nothing is retained after you close or reload the tab.

Does merging reduce image quality?

No. Pages are copied at the object level, so embedded images, vector art and fonts are preserved exactly. The only change is the file structure around them.

How many files can I merge at once?

Up to 50 files per run, with a combined ceiling of 750 MB. For very large collections, merge in a few passes rather than one enormous run.

What if my PDF is password protected?

A PDF that requires a password to open cannot be merged locally without that password. Unlock it first, then merge the result.
